Abstract
Accuracy of current measurement in optical fiber current sensor is affected by the environmental perturbations such as mechanical vibrations, acoustic perturbations and temperature changes to the sensing fiber. This paper presents a novel mathematical model for localized vibration effects on current measurement error in reciprocal fiber-optic polarimetric current sensor (RFOC) and its vibration compensation technique. The results of numerical investigation of the variation of polarization along the sensing fiber are used to find the current measurement error due to localized vibration.
