The GCI is considered an important section in renewable-energy conversion systems, of which its performance has a direct influence on the entire renewable-energy generation system. The control of the GCI must ensure the capability of matching inverter output voltage and frequency with continuous fluctuating grid voltage and frequency. In this paper, different types of control algorithms for the GCI are reviewed. Then their performances are compared and a particular control algorithm is chosen to be implemented. The proposed control algorithm including the whole system control is implemented on a low cost, single-chip microcontroller dsPIC30F3010. The hardware configuration of the microcontroller circuit, algorithm, and flowchart are presented.
