Abstract
The paper deals with compared performances of a direct- and an indirect controlled [3×5] matrix converter (MxC) supplying 5-phase IM, and, mainly, with the experimentation of indirect controlled [3×5] matrix converter supplying 5-phase resistive-inductive load. The output phases of the converter load are connected in star-, pentagon- and pentacle configuration similar to IM phase windings. The article follows the previous author(s) contribution to improving the efficiency of HEV vehicles. The worked-out results are compared through the output power performances of the individual configuration of the load phases. Simulation and experimental results with passive resistive-inductive load are given in the article. It is shown that the pentacle connection provides a maximum output voltage and eliminates the drawback of the used control strategy of MxC.
