In this context, an VHSIC (very high-speed integrated circuit) Hardware Description Language (VHDL) based parking system is designed to propose a well-organized and automated parking system. The proposed system is equipped with separate entrance and exit gates which ensure vehicle movement in one direction inside the parking area. As a result, the traffic congestion inside and outside of the parking area is drastically reduced. In this work, Finite State Machine (FSM) is utilized where a password protected secured parking system is exhibited which does not allow any vehicle to enter without verified password. Total four sensors (two at entrance and two at exit) are used to sense the vehicles and couples of sensors are used in each gate to control the opening and closing operation of the gates.
