Abstract

The application of nonlinear input-output linearization techniques to the control of induction motors is presented. Practical issues concerning discrete time implementation, rotor flux observation and stator current limitation are presented. The use of a high speed digital signal processor (DSP) is particularly appropriate, facilitating a small sampling period and advanced control algorithms. The authors' control scheme is implemented on an industrial induction motor variable speed drive. Practical results are given showing the feasibility of the approach.<>
