Japanese Industrial Standards Requirements and Performance Evaluation of Lightning Detector for Wind Turbine

Abstract

In Japan, Japanese Industrial standards (JIS) for lightning protection for wind turbines is scheduled to be revised and the required performance of lightning detectors for wind turbines will be added. We conduct evaluation tests of a newly developed lightning detector for wind turbines and confirm that it satisfies the performance requirements of JIS. Furthermore, we confirm that the detector can detect and record lightning strikes in an actual installation environment through demonstration tests.
