Abstract

A current-source type controller is proposed to be connected in series in the AC grid for integrated control of voltage and power of each line of the grid, which can increase the transmission capacity of AC lines by more than three times, exceeding the transmission capacity of DC lines at the same voltage level. Online ice melting is possible. No fault current is generated when the line fails, eliminating the problem of short-circuit current overrun. No-load lines can have voltage free standby to avoid excess system reactive power. The short board effect of short line overload on the load tide section also no longer exists. It makes the AC grid a safe, efficient and controllable new power system. As the first paper of the series, the research and simulation are briefly introduced.
