Abstract

The results of experiments concerned with linearity in the pitch, heave and roll motions of air-cushion-s upported vehicles are presented. Response linearity is demonstrated through regular wave response data with varying wave amplitude at a fixed frequency of encounter. Regular wave seakeeping transfer functions are correlated with spectral analysis results from irregular seas. Response operators are applied to appropriate sea spectra to demonstrate the response of the vehicles in a seaway.
