Abstract

This short paper describes a practical approach to build a low cost “home brew” Low Earth Orbit (LEO) satellite ground station for receiving telemetry as well as pictures from weather satellites and CubeSats. The setup will enable students and radio enthusiasts to get acquainted with LEO satellites and space technology, telemetry decoding and also receive directly METEO pictures at low cost. The proposed antennas have been built locally (see photos below) and the proposed setup fully tested in January 2018 and presented in various Radio Amateurs workshops.
