Vtile et dulce: as relações texto/imagem como ferramenta pedagógica no Colégio Jesuíta de Coimbra

Abstract

ABSTRACT: Aiming to contribute to the discussion on the use of logo-iconic compositions as pedagogical tools, I propose a study focused on the experience of the Jesuit College of Coimbra in the 16th century. I seek to bring to light some handwritten texts that confirm the application of the Ratio Studiorum pertaining to recommendations about training in the art of combining text and images, through the invention of emblems and enigmas. The purpose is, therefore, to reflect critically on the thematic aspects, the role played by images and their relations to texts, as well as the way in which those compositions enter into dialogue with emblematic literature, widely printed and disseminated within the Jesuit institutions. Pretende-se, assim, dar a conhecer algumas produções manuscritas que confirmam a aplicação das recomendações da Ratio Studiorum acerca da exercitação na arte de conjugar palavras e imagens, através da composição de emblemas e enigmas. Visa-se, portanto, refletir criticamente sobre os temas representados, o papel das imagens em interação com o texto e a forma como dialogaram com a literatura emblemática, amplamente impressa e divulgada no seio da Companhia.
