Abstract
To evaluate the characteristics of the electromagnetic field distribution during a radiated susceptibility test according to ISO 11452–2 a simulation model was developed and validated by measurements. An analysis was made in the frequency range from 200 MHz to 1 GHz using two different antenna types. In particular, the influence of the reference ground plane typically used for automotive tests was investigated. The results reveal a great influence of the reference ground plane on the electromagnetic field distribution for low frequencies, in particular around the DUT and the test harness and especially for the horizontal antenna polarization. Further, differences concerning the required forward power and radiation characteristics of the two antenna types were determined.
