Abstract
A problem of electromagnetic field modeling with consideration of eddy currents is addressed. A formulation for calculating eddy currents with coupled total vector magnetic potential and reduced scalar magnetic potential is presented. The finite element method (FEM) is used to approximate the total vector magnetic potential and the boundary element method (BEM) is used to approximate reduced scalar magnetic potential. The efficiency of the proposed method is investigated and compared to the pure FEM formulation. The results are obtained by solving the problem of calculating the effect of eddy currents on a magnet activation.
