Consulting Firms Under the Influence of Digitalization: The Need for Greater Organizational Agility

Abstract

Due to digitalization a number of industries are undergoing fundamental and far-reaching changes [2]. As consulting firms are advising clients on how to tackle these challenges, they are on the forefront of these changes. However, they are also affected by the changes themselves and have to, among other, rethink their organizational structure. Organizational structure has been identified as a leverage for complex change and innovations in times of high uncertainty [13]. We aim to test, if organizational agility can help consulting firms to develop digital innovation. Hence, our study sets out to explore the potential of new organizational structures in the consulting industry and to analyze the effect of organizational agility on digital innovation.
