Abstract

This paper presents an encoding time and encoding efficiency analysis of the Quadtree with nested Multi-type Tree (QTMT) structure in the Versatile Video Coding (VVC) intra-frame prediction. The QTMT structure enables VVC to improve the compression performance compared to its predecessor standard at the cost of a higher encoding complexity.
