OperationFlow: Visual Analytics for Business Process Sequence Recommendation

Abstract

The business process is a series of activities that carried out by different assignees to achieve a specific goal. Recommender systems has been used to assist business managers to make decisions on choosing the proper assignee to handle current task. Nevertheless, the problem of presenting the recommendations of business process has not been studied. We designed a novel transition flow diagram to present the details of business process, and based on which, we proposed a predictive analytics system, OperationFlow, to present and explain recommendations of assignees. We demonstrate the usefulness and effectiveness of OperationFlow through a series case studies with system managers in an enterprise context.
