Quick development changed the work of engineers dramatically. This paper makes an attempt to summarize key characteristics of the changed engineering activities and systems in order to identify demanded changes of higher education course concepts and programs. It is concluded that teaching processes must be brought into virtual engineering space in the possible extent. In order to contribute to the methods of changes, this paper discusses key relevant issues and proposes new concept for the solution. After a purposeful introduction to recent information technology and engineering, the demanded product, engineering process, and course representations are discussed. Following this, new concepts in course programs are introduced and discussed for improved engineering education. Abstract

In the past decade, the development of communication and information representations in IT has demanded a complete rethinking of engineering activities. Quick development changed the work of engineers dramatically. This paper makes an attempt to summarize key characteristics of the changed engineering activities and systems in order to identify demanded changes of higher education course concepts and programs.
