Abstract

The author documents a near-term design knowledge capture (DKC) system developed and implemented by McDonnell Douglas Space Systems Company (MDSSC) for Space Station Freedom Work Package 2 (WP-2). DKC is the process of capturing, analyzing, and maintaining design knowledge (the 'what, why, and how' of a design) in a systematic, machine-interpretable form.
