This paper deals with the proposal for the development of an intelligent classifier by comparing the wave patterns of various Power Quality Disturbances and Power System Faults. Here ANN is used as classifier and wavelet is used as mechanism. Abstract

Power Quality has become an important issue for electric utilities and the customers with uninterrupted and reliable supply. Power Quality disturbances such as interruption in line, noise, distortion of waves like voltage sag, voltage swell, harmonics results in malfunction of equipment and causes failure of device. And at times it may cause unnecessary interruption of supply. Thus an intelligent classifier is needed to protect the device and to maintain the uninterrupted supply. This paper deals with the proposal for the development of an intelligent classifier by comparing the wave patterns of various Power Quality Disturbances and Power System Faults.
