Abstract
This paper presents an overview of Brazilian Digital TV System (SBTVD), that is a modified version of the Terrestrial Integrated Service Digital Broadcasting (ISDB-T). It also presents the main properties of Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) and the Peak-to-Average Power Ratio (PAPR). Large PAPR is one of drawbacks in OFDM system. Two techniques - Selected Mapping (SLM) and Partial Transmit Sequence (PTS) -- are shown to reduce the PAPR in the OFDM signal. The techniques were simulated on Matlab having as goal the reduction on the PAPR and consequently the battery consumption on the reception device. Finally, a comparison with other techniques are shown to prove the effectiveness of the SLM and PTS.
