Analysis of External Cost of Private Cars and Ground Buses in Beijing

Abstract

In recent years, the development of China's transportation industry has grown by leaps and bounds, which undoubtedly brought huge benefits and convenience to the whole society. However, transportation is a public product, but it also brings the negative externality. This article measures these negative externalities and external costs. With the rapid development of the transportation industry, it will follow. Noise pollution, air pollution, traffic congestions and traffic accidents are the external costs, and the generation of these external costs brings huge loss to society. This paper will analyze the external costs of noise pollution, air pollution, traffic congestions and traffic accidents, and use the three external costs measurement methods to measure the external cost of Beijing traffic to compare the externality of cars and public transportation. Then the article draws relevant conclusions to promote the sustainable development of Beijing's transportation industry.
