Abstract

Accurate tracking of targets flying at low attitudes above a smooth surface is difficult because of the multipath propagation effects. In accordance with this problem, a new method for eliminating the effects of the specular component on the performance of radar low-angle tracking is presented, with emphasis on high range resolution (HRR) profiling of a target in the presence of multipath. This method does not depend on the specific signal processing and the assumption of environmental conditions. The results of simulation and field testing are also discussed.
