Abstract
A robotics project involving the production of a prototype automated assembly line for a complete garment is described. The line is designed for assembling men's Y-front and ladies' briefs. The problem is subdivided into component-based assembly, folding and closing operations, and a supervisory computer system. Each assembly operation is described with justification behind each proposed solution. The results of operations that have already been implemented are included and assessed. The relationship between the manual operation and the robotics tasks are discussed. Suggestions as to how this system can be applied to products of a similar nature are included
