Abstract

Design techniques used to satisfy underground radio communications requirements are discussed. The topics include operational requirements and functional design, propagation characteristics in the subsurface areas, test arrangement, test procedure and data, and analysis of the test data. The application discussed in typical of many industrial facilities where cost and performance are important considerations.
