THE GREAT HORDE OF KAZAKHS IN THE RUSSIAN-KOKAND CONFRONTATION IN CENTRAL ASIA. SURANSHY-BATYR AND UZYN-AGASH BATTLE IN 1860

Abstract

Annotation. Introduction . The activities of the batyr Suranshi during the Kokand invasion of Semirechye (Alatav district) in 1860 were studied. Goals. Since there are few descriptions and information about this famous figure in the open space, this work allows us to deliver new informational and analytical material based on archival and scientific sources. Results . For the first time, new historical information and documentary sources are introduced into scientific circulation, which allow in-depth analysis of academic materials and reproduce the picture of events, the general situation in the Central Asian region and study the actions of the Russian government, the Kokand authorities and military leaders, Kazakh and Kyrgyz tribal elders who were parties to the conflicts of that period. This allows to interpret the processes and explain the contradictory actions of historical figures in relation to the policy of the Russian Empire and the military enterprises of the Kokand Khanate. Conclusions . The complexity of unambiguous interpretations of the positions of the figures of Kazakh history during the difficult period of confrontations, Kokand rule and the beginning of Russian expansion deep into Central Asia is shown.
