Abstract
With the increasing complexity of electrical power systems, the need for accurate tools for their design, planning and operation become a necessity. This paper investigates the appropriate design tools for analysing complicated energy system configurations under different contingencies in order to cope with the challenges. Education and training using these tools requires familiarisation with software and hardware employed in this process. The paper shows that the new delivery modes using the full advantage of digital computers in a multi-media environment will improve the efficiency of instruction, and understanding of complex problems within the class room reach.<>
