Discontent in Early First-Century Galilee and Judea

Abstract

Eschatology does not fl ourish in a politically and socially secure world. People living in circumstances of peace and prosperity look forward opti-mistically to a predictable and safe future. Uncertainty, danger and con-tinuous political and social unrest generate the eschatological atmosphere and the consequent eschatological outlook.
