Abstract

Nowadays, many of the small and medium enterprises (SMEs) are facing a problem of higher scrap rate in their organisations. As a result, they are facing huge financial losses. Prime reason identified for this is the inadequate implementation of waste management techniques in such organisations. Even though there is a variety of waste management techniques available nowadays such as just in time (JIT), lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, Lean Six Sigma, total quality management (TQM), etc. but still organisations are unable to reap best results out of it. Therefore in the present study, SWOT analysis of various waste management techniques has been done to identify the strengths, weakness, opportunities, and threats to all these techniques in a manufacturing organisation. Hence a conclusion has been drawn that which waste management technique is best among all other techniques based on SWOT. So that manufacturing organisations can implement the best waste management technique to have better control over the scrap in the manufacturing organisations.
