Mediating Effect of Stress Coping Style on the Relationship between Social Support and Depression in the Elderly

Abstract

본 연구의 목적은 노년기 상실로 인한 우울에 따른 다양한 사회문제를 예방하고자 사회적 지지와 우울의 관계를 파악하고, 이 관계에서 적극적 스트레스 대처와 소극적 스트레스 대처가 매개하는지 살펴보는 것이다. 이를 위해 ○○대학교 ○○연구소에서 실시한 "2022 노인 정신건강 중독 실태조사"에 응답한 286명의 사례를 활용하였으며, 각 변인들의 인과관계를 규명하기 위해 경로분석을 실시하였다. 연구결과, 첫째, 노인의 사회적 지지는 스트레스 대처유형에 긍정적인 영향을 미쳤다. 둘째, 노인의 사회적 지지는 우울에 유의미하지 않은 것으로 확인되었다. 셋째, 노인의 사회적 지지와 우울의 관계에서 스트레스 대처유형의 매개효과를 살펴본 바, 적극적 스트레스 대처에서 완전매개가 나타났다. 연구결과를 바탕으로 본 연구에서는 노인의 우울을 감소시키기 위해 적극적 스트레스 대처를 높이는 방안에 대한 논의와 후속연구를 위한 제언을 하였다. The purpose of this study is to prevent various social problems caused by depression due to social loss in elderly, and to invest the mediate effects of active and passive stress coping between social support and depression. For this purpose, we used the cases of 286 respondents to the "2022 Elderly Mental Health Addiction Survey" conducted by the ○○ Institute of ○○ University, and conducted a path analysis to identify the causal relationship of each variable. The results showed that, first, the social support of the elderly had a positive effect on the type of stress coping. Second, the social support of the elderly was not significant for depression. Third, the mediating effect of stress coping styles on the relationship between social support and depression was examined, and full mediation was found in the path of active stress coping. Based on the above findings, this study discusses ways to increase active stress coping to reduce depression in the elderly and provides suggestions for future studies.
