Does Nursing Students' Consciousness of Privacy Affect their Attitudes to Registration and Preservation of Personal Health Data? A Descriptive Study

Abstract

Objective: This study was aimed to determine the effect of privacy consciousness of nursing students on their attitudes towards registration and preservation of personal health data. Method: The study was conducted as a descriptive and correlational research with 255 nursing students. The data were collected by using the Student Information Form, the Registration and Preservation of the Personal Health Data Attitude Scale and the Privacy Consciousness Scale. The data were evaluated in the IBM SPSS Statistics 21.0 program. Mann Whitney U and Kruskall Wallis test were used to analyze the mean scores of the scale in terms of descriptive characteristics. Multiple linear regression analysis was performed to determine the predictor of the Registration and Preservation of the Personal Health Data Attitude scores. Results: The total mean score of the students' the Registration and Preservation of the Personal Health Data Attitude Scale was 4.15±0.43 and the mean total score of the Privacy Consciousness Scale was 4.48±0.48.
