Comment on the article “Use of methacoline challenge test to detect bronchial hyperresponsiveness”

Abstract

Dear Editor; We read with interest the article titled “Use of methacoline challenge test to detect bronchial hyperresponsiveness in children with persistent rhinitis” published in Cukurova Medical Journal by Guc et al. [1]. This study showed that BHR positivity is high in children with allergic rhinitis. Allergic rhinitis can cause false positive BHR. In addition, smoking and COPD can cause false positives [2, 3]. COPD can occur in childhood [4]. We think that it would be appropriate to mention this in the discussion part of this study.
