Abstract

The purpose of this paper is to trace the evolution of the "Baby Doe" policy, focusing on litigation and legislation. The policy is examined for its strengths and weaknesses, and areas for continuing study are identified and explored. In addition, the participation of nurses as members of Infant Care Review Committees and the Committees' role as potential policy makers are discussed.
