Abstract

In lieu of an abstract, here is a brief excerpt of the content:

  • Editors’ Introduction
  • Elizabeth S. Radcliffe and Mark G. Spencer

This issue of Hume Studies opens with the winner of the inaugural Hume Studies Essay Prize, Aaron Alexander Zubia’s excellent essay, “Hume’s Transformation of Academic Skepticism.” The Prize was awarded this past year in a competition among contending papers submitted from January 1 through August 1, 2021.

The Hume Studies Essay Prize is an annual award in the amount of $1,000 US made possible by the support of the Hume Society. The Essay Prize is an ongoing competition for those who submit papers to Hume Studies and are ten or fewer years from receiving the Ph.D., including current graduate students. Entries for the second prize closed on August 1, 2022. Papers submitted before that date are undergoing the usual refereeing process at the journal. The latest version of those papers in hand by December 31 will be passed to the Prize Selection Committee, a subset of the Hume Studies Editorial Board. The winner will be announced in early Spring 2023.

All papers submitted by qualifying authors from August 2, 2022, to August 1, 2023, will be considered entries in the third competition, to be awarded in 2024. See our website for more information: https://www.humesociety.org/ojs/index.php/hs/announcement.

We are happy to announce as well that, beginning with Hume Studies volume 47 (the current volume), we are employing a new printer, Christensen Printing (Joe Christensen, Inc.), in Lincoln, Nebraska. Paper issues should be arriving in mailboxes much more quickly than in the past. [End Page 169]
