His work focuses on Chicanx literature with attention to how the state negotiates the possibility of queer citizenship by producing legally bearing fictions about migration, refuge, and asylum. His research on Arturo Islas has been awarded the Frederick Cervantes Premio by the National Association for Chicana and Chicano Studies and appeared in <span style=\"font-style:italic;\">Latino Studies</span>. Abstract
