Abstract
The magnetic size effects of single-domain nickel nanoparticles encapsulated in a graphite-like carbon shell (Ni@C nanocomposites) have been studied. Along with ferro- and superparamagnetic characteristics, the samples exhibit paramagnetism due to surface nickel ions formed through charge transfer from the carbon matrix. A detailed analysis of the total curves of magnetization M(H) and coercivity at 10 K was carried out and the corresponding magnetic parameters were determined.
