Abstract
Supersonic gas flow from an annular nozzle into a low-pressure chamber is studied numerically using kinetic and continuum approaches. Such flows find applications in gas-jet plasma-chemical technologies using an electron beam passing through an axial channel. The study is performed by using the direct simulation Monte Carlo method and by solving continuum equations using ANSYS Fluent software. It is shown that the solutions obtained are in good agreement with each other even in low-density regions of the electron beam channel. This leads to the conclusion that ANSYS Fluent software is suitable for simulating flows of this type.
