Trauma-informed ideas and trauma interventions when working with older people

Abstract

Trauma and traumatic experiences can have a negative impact on people’s wellbeing, quality of life, their social interactions and feelings of connectedness. This paper introduces the Trauma-Informed Wales Framework (2022), highlight some of the opportunities and barriers in embedding trauma interventions and trauma-informed ways of thinking and acting when working with older people in mental health services, and, to stimulate further discussion.
