Abstract

The impact of the current global pandemic on family economy in Nigeria cannot be overemphasized. In a few months of Covid-19 pandemic, millions of people were hit by the deadly virus which claimed a lot of lives worldwide, including Nigeria. The Federal Government also declared total lockdown of outdoor economic activities, ceremonies, institutions, religious activities, and stay-at-home order to prevent the spread of the deadly virus in the country. The declaration made life very difficult for the masses with families inclusive. The onset of the lockdown that affected all individuals put set-back on economic activities and this impacted negatively on the income of families. This made it very hard for families to improve their economic powers especially those in rural and urban areas. Thereby, enhancing vulnerability, making the poor to become poorer because there is no backup that the poor could easily fall on. More so, the capacity to recover and adapt became impaired.
