Along with many other treatments, therapies and supports being provided to patients, music therapy may play the role with preventative and curative periods of treatment, as well as support to cope and acceptance toward the inevitable for the patient as well for the caregivers. Music therapy provides a biopsychosocial and holistic approach to palliative care. Musical interventions include methods of receptive, improvisation, recreative, and creative spanning across many techniques and have been found to help with coping, expressing emotions, regulating emotions, acceptance, managing pain, and distress, supportive to caregivers through grief and bereavement.
