Abstract
A new species of Melanoleuca subg. Urticocystis with urticiform cheilocystidia is proposed from Lal suhanra National Park, Bahawalpur district, Punjab, Pakistan. The identification is based on morphological characters and molecular phylogenetic analyses using ITS sequences. A comparison of morphological features and molecular phylogenetic data with the known taxa of the subgenus confirms the identity of the species as a new taxon. Detailed descriptions, line drawings and phylogenetic results are presented.
