Abstract
Objective of the study: This study was undertaken to test the feasibility and acceptability of an assistive garment for providing Kangaroo mother care (KMC) among mothers of preterm neonates. Study design: An interventional case series design was planned and eight mothers and their babies were recruited using convenience sampling. Feasibility outcomes were assessed using a validated log sheet. Acceptability outcomes were collected by a five-point attitude scale, from the mothers. Results: The garment supported the baby’s weight and maintained the position of the baby during KMC in all the sessions. Six mothers could express breast milk using a breast pump while using the garment. Most of the mothers voiced positive opinions about the garment.
