CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Even if today's college student- athletes seem way more tech-savvy than you, they still need guidance to successfully manage the quickly evolving name, image, and likeness realm. Providing your student-athletes with an NIL education will also have the fringe benefit of helping to protect your institution by ensuring compliance, boosting safety, and limiting liability. Just think of the liability if one of your student-athletes, who doesn’t fully understand the NIL-related rules and regulations, thinks it's OK to sneak onto the field to give a private lesson as part of an NIL deal but then someone gets hurt in the process.
