Comorbilidades cardiovasculares de la dermatitis atópica

Abstract

Atopic dermatitis (AD) is a common condition associated with both atopic and non-atopic comorbidities. In recent years, there has been a growing interest in defining the relationship between AD and a wide spectrum of comorbidities, particularly cardiovascular diseases. Patients with AD appear to have a higher risk of developing obesity, high blood pressure and major cardiovascular events, among others. It is often observed that this risk is stronger with increasing severity of AD. Whether the common link among these comorbidities is a chronic systemic inflammatory state or if there are confounding factors related to quality and style of life remains a subject of ongoing debate. In this review, we will describe the most relevant recent evidence regarding the association between AD and these conditions.
