Resistência e comunidade no tempo das catástrofes

Abstract

In this article, we offer an analysis of Isabelle Stengers' argument as developed mainly in In Catastrophic Times, which identifies a parallelism between the mode of operation of a certain type of science and philosophy and the neoliberal imperative of trust in economical development as the key (– or as the only “responsible” option) for facing the crises of our present. In addition to identifying the elements that compose this diagnosis and exemplifying means of resistance to what it uncovers, we seek to relate Stengers' thought with the philosophical tradition as pursued by authors such as Nietzsche, Deleuze and Foucault, contrasting this orientation with the paradigm of alienation, crucial to Critical Theory.
