Abstract

Autoimmune diseases are caused by the failure of immune tolerance, resulting in organ-specific or systemic autoimmune inflammation. With their lifelong presence, their possible internal organ- or life-threatening nature and their increasing incidence, autoimmune diseases cause high burdens to patients and the medical system. In a significant proportion of patients, remission cannot be achieved, which means that novel therapies are needed, for which we need to better understand the pathomechanism. In this review, we describe some possible ways of discovering the pathogenesis of autoimmune disorders, through presenting some translational research methods. For the examination of the pathogenesis of autoimmune disorders, animal models and blood or tissue samples from patients are often used in order to discover novel signal transduction molecules or to investigate the effect of new potential drug candidates. Our aim is to give a short summary of the possible research methods used for deciphering the background of autoimmune inflammation. Orv Hetil. 2024; 165(26): 983–996.

2024;165(26): 983 - 996。
