Abstract

Perovskite LEDs (PeLEDs) show promise as a next-generation light source. For energy-efficient displays, PeLEDs with all-rounded performance combining high energy-conversion efficiencies (ηECE), brightness, and stability with spectral compliance are required. However, such a demanding goal is yet to be achieved. Here we demonstrate PeLEDs exhibiting a high ηECE of 21.3%, exceptional brightness of ∼3.2 × 105 cd m–2 (max: ∼4.6 × 105 cd m–2), long lifetimes (T50) of ∼125 h at 1000 cd m–2 (extrapolated T50: ∼4900 h at 100 cd m–2), and an unprecedented Rec. 2020 color gamut coverage of 97.7% for green LEDs. The ηECE values are record-high for visible PeLEDs, contrasting to most studies in which EQEs rather than the overall efficiencies are considered. We present how (i) the spectral tuning for Rec. 2020 compliance, (ii) the elimination of nonradiative traps for enhanced EQEs, brightness, and stability, and (iii) the low driving voltages for high ηECE are simultaneously achieved, paving the way toward energy-efficient PeLED displays.

Perovskite LED

ACS Energy Letters is a monthly journal that publishes papers reporting new scientific advances in energy research. The journal focuses on topics that are of interest to scientists working in the fundamental and applied sciences. Rapid publication is a central criterion for acceptance, and the journal is known for its quick publication times, with an average of 4-6 weeks from submission to web publication in As Soon As Publishable format. ACS Energy Letters is ranked as the number one journal in the Web of Science Electrochemistry category. It also ranks within the top 10 journals for Physical Chemistry, Energy & Fuels, and Nanoscience & Nanotechnology. The journal offers several types of articles, including Letters, Energy Express, Perspectives, Reviews, Editorials, Viewpoints and Energy Focus. Additionally, authors have the option to submit videos that summarize or support the information presented in a Perspective or Review article, which can be highlighted on the journal's website. ACS Energy Letters is abstracted and indexed in Chemical Abstracts Service/SciFinder, EBSCO-summon, PubMed, Web of Science, Scopus and Portico.
