The neonatal mortality rate was 28.9 deaths (95%CI: 24.33, 34.46) per 1,000 neonate-days. Obstetric complications, respiratory distress syndrome, neonatal sepsis, perinatal asphyxia, antenatal steroid exposure, gestational age at birth, and receiving kangaroo-mother care were predictors of preterm neonatal mortality.Preterm neonatal mortality rate was high.
