Abstract
A cubic spinel LiMn2O4 cathode material with nanoscale was synthesized via a facile liquid-combustion method at 600, 750 and 850 ℃. The crystal structure and surface morphology of LiMn2O4 electrodes have been characterized by using X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and transmission electron microscopy (TEM) technique. The samples have an average diameter of 200 nm with an octahedral structure with high crystallinity. Benefiting from the excellent structure, the sample prepared at 750 ℃ delivers the highest first discharge capacity of 115.3 mAh·g−1 with remaining 101.5 mAh·g−1 after 400 cycles at 1 C. Moreover, it exhibits a good cycling performance at 55 ℃, still had the capacity of 105.4 mAh·g−1 with a capacity retention of 71.2% following 282 cycles. The facilely synthesized octahedral LiMn2O4 provides a practical application strategy for lithium-ion batteries.

Accounts of Chemical Research presents short, concise and critical articles offering easy-to-read overviews of basic research and applications in all areas of chemistry and biochemistry. These short reviews focus on research from the author’s own laboratory and are designed to teach the reader about a research project. In addition, Accounts of Chemical Research publishes commentaries that give an informed opinion on a current research problem. Special Issues online are devoted to a single topic of unusual activity and significance.
Accounts of Chemical Research replaces the traditional article abstract with an article "Conspectus." These entries synopsize the research affording the reader a closer look at the content and significance of an article. Through this provision of a more detailed description of the article contents, the Conspectus enhances the article's discoverability by search engines and the exposure for the research.
