Tratamiento quirúrgico en la hidradenitis supurativa: análisis de una serie de casos

Abstract

Introduction

Hidradenitis suppurativa is a chronic disease with challenging treatment favoring the emergence of surgical options. This study describes a series of procedures, types of closure, their recurrence and complications.

Materials and methods

We conducted a retrospective observational study of 33 surgical procedures in 28 patients diagnosed with hidradenitis suppurativa performed from January 2017 to March 2023.

Results

84.8% of the procedures were performed on women. Recurrence in infiltration and drainage was 57.14% (n = 12), 33.33% with deroofing (n = 1) and 11.11% with local resection (n = 1). Recurrence in primary closure was 16.66% (n = 1) and 12.5% in closure by secondary intention (n = 1). Patients with severe disease had less recurrence, followed by moderate and mild disease.

Conclusión

We highlight primary closure with the highest rate of complications and local resection as the procedure with the lowest recurrence. It is proposed that a more aggressive approach could represent a decrease in recurrence; however, it is pertinent to carry out studies with a larger sample to achieve greater standardization.
