Abstract

Ingrown nails and foot deformities are common issues that affect individuals of all ages. Over the years, various treatments have been proposed, but a comprehensive comparative analysis was lacking. This review examined several treatments, including the Emmert procedure, orthonyxia, and the VHO-Osthold® Perfect buckle, comparing them in terms of outcomes, patient satisfaction, recovery times, and recurrence rates. The results showed that treatments such as the VHO-Osthold® Perfect buckle and orthonyxia led to shorter recovery times and reduced post-treatment pain. Even a combined approach for chronic onycholysis yielded promising results. In summary, this review highlights the importance of considering combined and innovative approaches in the treatment of nail deformities of the feet, with the goal of improving patient satisfaction and quality of life.
