Using a bifunctional aminothiourea catalyst, trifluoromethyl-functionalized dihydropyran spirocyclic products were obtained with good yields and enantioselectivities. Subsequent transformation with H<sub>2</sub> and Pd/C has allowed the synthesis of the tetrahydropyran structure with three stereocenters.
